PERSON CENTRED COUNSELLOR


 

Salary: £15 per hour - competitive holiday allowance

Hours: Full or Part time hours available - various hours/shifts available – will include some day and evening working (finishing by 9pm)

Location: Edgbaston, Birmingham

Reporting to: Chief Executive

Responsible for: Delivering one to one counselling to children and young people aged 12-25

Contract: Fixed-term until end of March 2022 (with possibility of extension beyond this)

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Counsellor to work as part of children and young peoples counselling service, commissioned by the NHS.

This provision offers free at the point of access one to one counselling for children and young people aged 12-25. The post holder will be required to deliver one to one (face to face) counselling to clients experiencing a range of mental health difficulties including, emotional distress, depression, anxiety, low self esteem and working with those who self harm and/or have suicidal thoughts/feelings.

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, empathic, sensitive and experienced counsellor, with a passion for making a difference and someone who is able to work within a team as well as independently.

Applicants are required to have a Graduate Diploma or a Degree in therapeutic counselling (Person Centred or Integrative) and have some post qualifying experience of working as a Child and Young Persons Person Centred/Integrative Counsellor within a mental health setting.

The post holder will be based at our beautiful premises in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

All successful candidates will be required to attend, complete and pass all Mandatory Training, including Safeguarding and will receive a full induction process.

Open Door will offer support to the successful applicant in respect of their professional development and supervision will be given in line with BACP requirements.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
