Employee Assistance & Corporate counselling Service
Mental health difficulties and concerns can have a significant impact on both employees and employers. If an employee is experiencing mental health difficulties and/or emotional distress it is highly likely that this will impact upon their performance within the workplace. This can result in financial costs and HR challenges, including the need to manage long term absences.
We know that 1 in 6.8 employees experience mental health problems and 9% report thoughts of suicide and/or self harm. 12.7% of staff sickness absence days can be attributed to mental health problems, with 51% of long term sick leave accounted for by stress, anxiety and depression. Data also suggests that employees feel under-supported by their employers when it comes to mental health, and that a third of managers do not feel equipped to manage and support staff who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
