New partnership provides free counselling for the children of civil engineers
We are so pleased to announce that we have begun working with the ICE Benevolent Fund, who provide support to members of the Institution of Civil Engineers and their families.
ICE Benevolent Fund supports all civil engineers who are, or have been, members of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), they also support their families.
Teaming up with ICE Benevolent Fund allows us to provide a free youth counselling service for the dependants of civil engineers.
Our agreement means we can offer quick access to free counselling at a time when waiting lists for services elsewhere are long and other forms of support are costly. By offering professional counselling for young people as soon as they need it, we hope to provide them with the tools they need to maintain long term mental stability and to show them that there will always be help available.
Lindsay Howell, Head of Casework and Services at ICE Benevolent Fund, said:
“Our young people have had a tough time of it recently, including coping with the pandemic, when they were not able to go to school or college, and may have felt isolated with all their social interactions curtailed. Pandemic aside, many young people find life challenging in all sorts of ways. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that the Ben Fund are teaming up with Open Door to offer the children of ICE members a confidential space to think, talk and be heard; they will be working with a trained counsellor and therapist.
“Everyone is different and each person will be facing a unique set of circumstances. We want our young people to be able to share their thoughts and feelings and to have access to professional support.”
Carmel Mullan-Hartley, Chief Executive Officer of Open Door Counselling, said:
“It's exciting to be embarking on another great partnership to open up access to much needed support for young people's mental health. The ICE Benevolent Fund does great work supporting the wellbeing of civil engineers and their families, we're delighted to be able to add to the package of wellbeing support they offer with this specialised service for young people. We are excited to start receiving referrals and building a strong partnership with ICE and its members.”
