Pete Sanders (1951–2022) - a tribute to our friend and trustee

Pete Sanders (1951–2022)

We were so sad to hear of the death of our trustee Pete Sanders last month.

Pete became a trustee of Open Door Counselling in 2018. A retired person centred counsellor himself, he brought over 30 years' experience of working as a therapist, trainer and clinical supervisor. He also wrote and edited many books about counselling, including the well known First Steps in Counselling, and was founder of PCCS Training and PCCS Books, which he ran with his wife Maggie.

Our Chief Executive, Carmel Mullan-Hartley says:

"Pete offered so many valuable contributions to our service. He always responded to any request for help or support. Our last email communication was about the importance and value of the Person Centred model of therapy. As well as a great loss for Open Door, the Person Centred Community has lost a great champion of the approach.

He was a man of great integrity. Our sincere condolences to his wife Maggie and family."
