family support service

This service is helping to meet the growing demand for family support we have noticed since the Pandemic.

We offer 1-2-1 support sessions to family members, usually parents or caregivers. These sessions are designed to help families develop parenting skills and strategies, implement and maintain age appropriate boundaries, and better understand their child’s needs. We also encourage the family to attend some sessions as a unit to enhance and enable better communication.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Weekly face to face sessions are provided from our counselling rooms in Edgbaston.

  • Individual sessions last 1 hour, and group sessions for up to three family members last 1.5 hours.

  • Sessions may be delivered in conjunction with one of our qualified and experienced counsellors, in situations where it is considered a therapeutic approach may be helpful.

  • The number of sessions is not fixed and can be negotiated, although a minimum of six sessions is usually recommended.

  • Our service is fully confidential. Our staff undertake risk assessments at the start of their work, and where appropriate will liaise with statutory services if required.
